I got so many feels (of the “HELL YES!” variety) when I read the quote below by Rob Brezsny.
As someone who sees and feels energy everyday, and literally witnesses the Grace of Souls floating around human form, I don’t have the luxury to pretend our energetic connectedness and spiritual nature as humans is a fairy-tale delusion. For me, it is part of my everyday reality, just as real as feeling the wind on my skin.
Our society is still in the DARK AGES with our collective crowning of materialism and logic as our only Gods (and, hey, how’s that working out for us, society???) In media, the aura, psychic phenomenon or communication with the other side is predictably characterized as “woo woo-crazy town-hippie-ungrounded-shit.” Sometimes I envy the uninitiated–often smug (and feeling safe) in their (rational) interpretation of the (physical) world (limited to their experience of their 5 senses). You may sense my frustration. I try to be compassionate. And patient. But sometimes, this shit is hard, my friends. I see the potential for a world where the mystics are not the outcast freaks and are welcomed to the table of credible pioneers towards consciousness. What would it look like if mainstream media actually could have a conversation about these topics without them becoming sensationalized? It would be a new day.
So without further ado, here’s that feely quote for ya:
“The superstition of materialism is the dominant ideology of a majority of people in the world. It’s the specious doctrine that physical matter is the only reality and that nothing can be said to exist unless it’s perceivable by a human being’s five senses or detected by technologies that humans have created. Materialism paradoxically preaches the value of being agnostic about all phenomena it does not recognize as real, even as it obsessively evades questions about its own fundamentalist assumptions.” – Rob Brezsny
